Punjab Launches Solarization Of 7,000 Agri Tube Wells In Major Green Initiative

Here is another big scheme announced by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in which she approves the Agri Tubwells Solarization Project for the Farmers of Punjab on certain Criteria. Therefore if a farmer matches all the requirements given by the government then he can apply for the Solarization of their Tubewells in which the energy used for the running of tubewells will be converted into Solar energy.

Solarization of 7,000 Agri Tube Wells Scheme By CM Punjab

Maryam Nawaz, the chief minister of Punjab, has approved a solarization project for the province’s agricultural tube wells. She said that the effort will help farmers and significantly lower the prices of agricultural output at a meeting today in Lahore.

This decision was taken by Maryam Nawaz in a meeting held on 26th July 2024, where the relief for the Kisans was discussed and many important announcements were made. 7,000 tube wells will be converted to solar energy in the first phase, and 10,000 more in the second. a significant program created to assist sustainable agriculture while lowering farmers’ energy expenses.

Who Can Apply For The Solarization Of Tube Wells?

Just like all the other initiatives it is also bound by certain criteria so that assistance from the government can only reach the right person. Through the following criteria, a person can become eligible for this Scheme:

  • This Scheme is Only For Poor Farmers,
  • The project would be open to farmers who own a minimum of 25 acres of land.
  • A Farmer Should have his CNIC Card with him.

How Can Farmers Benefit From this Project?

At the moment, electricity costs approximately Rs1,500 per acre, while diesel costs almost Rs3,000 per acre when operating a tubewell. This cost would be significantly reduced for farmers to just Rs50 per acre thanks to solar energy. For their tubewells, they will only have to pay for 33% of the solarization cost; the remaining 67% will be subsidized by the government.

Electricity Bill Relief For Farmers 

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz highlighted the project’s contribution to bringing down expensive electricity bills and giving farmers access to solar panels, which will minimize crop production costs and help the agriculture industry. She oversaw the creation of a sustainable supply management system for necessities like tomatoes and onions as well as a unique package for vegetable farmers.
